Hole 1
335 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 14
A pleasant, simple hole to start the round. The drive is directed through the large banks and ideally should be left of the centre line to leave a more open shot into the green. The second shot should only require a short iron to the kidney-shaped green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 335 | 14 | |
Yellow | 4 | 327 | 14 | |
Red | 4 | 305 | 12 |
Hole 2
382 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 4
The first of the water holes. The drive is uphill to a ridge, with a bunker guarding the left side of the fairway. The second shot, must cross the lake to a large and receptive green, with mounding to the rear and left hand sides.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|

Hole 3
424 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 6
After the loosening up process of the first two holes, the third hole requires two long, well struck shots. The drive is slightly uphill to a ridge and then falls away sharply towards the hole. The second shot is to a slightly elevated green, guarded by two bunkers.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 424 | 6 | |

---|---|---|---|---|
White | 3 | 186 | 12 | |

Hole 5
514 Yards, Par: 5, Stroke Index: 8
From the elevated tee the hole snakes down past a lake on the right and up to a well guarded green with a narrow approach. Big hitters can reach in two, but a high degree of accuracy is required. The third shot has to negotiate a bunker guarding the front left hand side of the green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 5 | 514 | 8 | |
Yellow | 5 | 505 | 8 | |
Red | 5 | 450 | 2 |
Hole 6
374 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 10
A subtle, shortish par 4, which uses the natural contours to good effect. There are two bunkers to negotiate on the drive. The ideal drive is down the left, which will open up the kidney-shaped green, guarded by the bunker from hell.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 374 | 10 | |
Yellow | 4 | 366 | 10 | |
Red | 4 | 346 | 10 |
Hole 7

---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 251 | 18 | |

Hole 8
167 Yards, Par: 3, Stroke Index: 16
A pleasant, natural hole where club selection is critical. The green is situated in an elevated position, with a steep fall on the front and left, and is guarded by a large bunker at the front right hand side of the green.

Hole 9
581 Yards, Par: 5, Stroke Index: 2
A muscular 3 shotter which requires accurate shot making. The drive should end on a flat, slightly elevated island fairway. The second shot has to cross a narrowish constriction, formed by the river and the road. The third shot leads into a slightly elevated, rectangular, undulating green set in a natural amphitheatre.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 5 | 581 | 2 | |
Yellow | 5 | 538 | 2 | |
Red | 5 | 434 | 8 |
Hole 10
362 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 13
The second nine again starts with a short par 4. The drive is downhill into a valley with a bunker guarding the left hand side of the wide fairway. The second shot is uphill to an undulating, kidney shaped green with a bunker to the right
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 362 | 13 | |
Yellow | 4 | 354 | 13 | |
Red | 4 | 336 | 9 |
Hole 11
177 Yards, Par: 3, Stroke Index: 9
This is a truly heroic hole which requires a carry of 165 yards across a large lake. The green is sleeper fronted, comparatively wide and slopes up to a large mound in which is set a centrally placed bunker.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 3 | 177 | 9 | |
Yellow | 3 | 156 | 9 | |
Red | 3 | 94 | 15 |
Hole 12
590 Yards, Par: 5, Stroke Index: 3
A genuine three shot hole. The drive from the back tee, which juts into the lake, must carry 80 yards of water up to a ridge with bunkers set left and right of the generous fairway. The second shot should be aimed to the right side of the fairway. The green rises steeply from front to back and is guarded by a large bunker.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 5 | 590 | 3 | |
Yellow | 5 | 554 | 3 | |
Red | 5 | 463 | 7 |
Hole 13
404 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 5
Arguably the most difficult hole on the course. The drive is quite tight, with out of bounds on the left. The hole then doglegs left to the bottom of a valley, where a loop in the river cuts into the front of the slightly elevated green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 404 | 5 | |
Yellow | 4 | 396 | 5 | |
Red | 4 | 349 | 3 |
Hole 14
391 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 7
A short par 4, but fraught with difficulties. The drive is played over the River Wiske, some 110 yards from the tee, to a wide fairway. The second shot has to be played back over the river to an open and inviting green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 391 | 7 | |
Yellow | 4 | 358 | 7 | |
Red | 4 | 274 | 11 |
Hole 15
177 Yards, Par: 3, Stroke Index: 15
Another uphill par 3 hole which plays its full yardage. A deep bunker lies between the two arms of the L-shaped green which is at the highest part of the course, offering exceptional views across the course to east and west.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 3 | 177 | 15 | |
Yellow | 3 | 168 | 15 | |
Red | 3 | 144 | 17 |
Hole 16
563 Yards, Par: 5, Stroke Index: 11
A straightforward par 5. The drive from an elevated tee must pass through a gap in the hedge to avoid bunkers on the left and right. There is no particular difficulty with the second shot, but the third has to negotiate four grass hollows surrounding the green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 5 | 563 | 11 | |
Yellow | 5 | 541 | 11 | |
Red | 5 | 475 | 1 |
Hole 17
435 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 1
A testing par 4. The drive must avoid a large bunker on the right and not be hit overlong as a valley runs between the end of the bunker and the green, which is guarded by a solitary bunker on the front left of the green.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 435 | 1 | |
Yellow | 4 | 426 | 1 | |
Red | 4 | 380 | 13 |
Hole 18
350 Yards, Par: 4, Stroke Index: 17
This is a short but spectacular par 4 finishing hole with two options facing you. Either drive across the river, which is about 230 yards from an elevated back tee, leaving a pitch to the angled green avoiding the large bunker. Or play short and face a slightly longer second shot.
Tee | Par | Yards | Stroke | |
---|---|---|---|---|
White | 4 | 350 | 17 | |
Yellow | 4 | 341 | 17 | |
Red | 4 | 327 | 5 |
